What are Tread Wear Indicators?

Last updated 3 years ago

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was some way to tell when your tires needed to be replaced? Actually, there is. All tires in the U.S. are legally required to have some sort of tread wear indicators. If you didn’t already know that, you aren’t alone. The Rubber Manufacturers Association estimates that 66 percent of drivers don’t know that tread wear indicators exist, and that approximately 13 percent of vehicles on the road have at least one bald tire.

Watch this video to learn more about tread wear indicators and the future of tread wear indicator technology. If you’re in need of new tires, come to Dekalb Tire.
