Recognizing When It's Time to Get Your Car's A/C Serviced

Last updated 4 years ago

Heat can be very difficult to manage in the Atlanta area, especially if your car isn’t prepared for it. To make sure that you are comfortable this summer, run your car’s air conditioner to see if it functions properly. If you experience any of the following problems, visit Dekalb Tire for air conditioning service as soon as possible.

Air Conditioner Not Starting

Do you hear your car’s air conditioner activating after you turn the corresponding dial on the dashboard? If not, a fuse is probably out. It is also possible that the switch was disconnected by accident. In any case, visit your local car repair shop to determine whether electrical issues are at the root of your car’s air conditioning problems.

Air Conditioner is Louder Than Usual

When you hear too much noise coming from your air conditioner, there could be a number of possible problems. If you hear a rattling, squealing, howling, or grumbling sound coming from your air conditioner, the compressor may need to be replaced or the fan belt may be loose. Either way, a visit to your local auto repair shop is in order.

Low Airflow

A weak flow of air often indicates that the blower in your car’s air conditioner needs to be replaced. There might also be some debris stuck in your air conditioner that is impeding the flow of air into the cabin.

Cooling is Inefficient

If you can turn the air conditioner of your vehicle on full blast for several minutes without feeling any cold air coming from the vents, your vehicle may be low on refrigerant. Another possibility is that the compressor needs to be replaced. Visit a car repair shop to see if your vehicle has sufficient refrigerant levels or if something else is causing the problem.
